Great little screencap application – PicPick

So I was doing my last post and what I really wanted was a way to do a screencap without having to then open up Photoshop, new image, paste, edit save.  Number one, Photoshop is fat – real fat.  I use it every day without a doubt, but it doesn’t need to stay open continually […]

So I was doing my last post and what I really wanted was a way to do a screencap without having to then open up Photoshop, new image, paste, edit save.  Number one, Photoshop is fat – real fat.  I use it every day without a doubt, but it doesn’t need to stay open continually and it’s just plain overkill to get a screencap for a blog posting.  Can I get a “h*ll yeah!” out there? Figured that there HAD to...

CuteFTP – Editor cursor not right – SOLUTION!!!!

So every time I went into the CuteFTP 9.0 editor – which I love (except for this problem) – the cursor seemed to continually be off by about 8 places on occasion.  I’d click to make an edit to a CSS file which is what I use it for the most.  The cursor instead of […]

So every time I went into the CuteFTP 9.0 editor – which I love (except for this problem) – the cursor seemed to continually be off by about 8 places on occasion.  I’d click to make an edit to a CSS file which is what I use it for the most.  The cursor instead of landing where the mouse actually was would be several places to the left.  Drove me nuts. Been living with it for two months or so – just hadn’t...

Setting up Outlook on multiple computers

As anyone who reads this probably gathered, Lizardwebs has just moved into a new office in Clayton, NC.  115 East 1st St Clayton, NC to be exact. And this has required that I almost have duplicate setups for my home office and my business office for a number of things.  This kind of stuff never […]

As anyone who reads this probably gathered, Lizardwebs has just moved into a new office in Clayton, NC.  115 East 1st St Clayton, NC to be exact. And this has required that I almost have duplicate setups for my home office and my business office for a number of things.  This kind of stuff never seems to be *quite* as easy as one might first imagine. The biggest stumbling block (behind needing duplicate development servers) has been...

An Unexpected Ubuntu

Sunday started off like any other day. I normally get up at 3 am or so and today was no different. With hot coffee in hand, I walked to the office. I looked to the great graveyard of computers awaiting their chance at refurb loading and I selected one to work on this morning. Unfortunately, […]

Sunday started off like any other day. I normally get up at 3 am or so and today was no different. With hot coffee in hand, I walked to the office. I looked to the great graveyard of computers awaiting their chance at refurb loading and I selected one to work on this morning. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, it lacked the ever present Windows COA required to reinstall the operating system. Rather than go to another, I decided...

Setup SugarCRM in 2 days (and counting)

SugarCRM has now become the darling of my operation. I have found great love for this CRM tool for tracking customers, customer issues, reviewing historical data – I just love this app!

It all started when Dawn and I discussed needing a way to keep track of all of the clients and what we were doing on each account. So I let this rattle around in my head until this week, which has been a bit slower than the last several.  Figured this would be the time to hit it.  Whipped up the uber handy (for the most part) Microsoft Web Platform Installer app.  There as the solution to all my problems was the much vaunted SugarCRM....

AVG to the RESCUE – Not.

I truly TRULY dislike AVG. The only thing it’s particularly good at is slowing down a computer. Free in this case is NOT free.

Another computer infected with a virus. And what was the antivirus of choice?  AVG.  I’m not sure if it is just because it’s so popular or because it’s truly bad. Either way, I will never use nor recommend it. Poor guy came through RDU airport and thought he was connecting to the public wifi. What did he ACTUALLY connect to?  A peer-to-peer network. Ouch.  Apparently the computer started going crazy. And well it...
